Some of the similarities in the work is that both the protagonists are seen in third person omniscient points of view as we see them throughout the adventure. I think both convey this message through one key element which is trust, like how Molly trusts Ernest and how Candide trusts Pangloss.

Though for Candide, I would say that Pangloss isn’t directly withholding information from him, rather he is the voice of the ruling power, the church.

Both of our protagonists show an illusion of what the perfect life would be like at first before the truth was revealed about how their world really works. They also show similarities in themes about family, social heirchies and belief systems such as religion.

Entry .....

Matin scorses uses techniques such as non-diegetic sound, tone and mood, and lastly cut scenes. For non-dajetic sounds, he uses music from the 1920’s to play in the background of snces to set the tone for the timeline the film was in. Song such as ‘dark was the night, cold was the ground’, a song that was also on the voyager 1.

and “Whazhazhe” a native american song such by the Osage people. These songs help set the overall tone for the time and place the film is taking place. Scorses also uses a lot of grey-saturated colours for a lot of the film.

For example, the clothes they wear, or the colours of the shop, or even the sky, they are all tined with a blush grey which gives the film a sombre feeling. Lastly, cut scenes.
